Message that the vehicle provides. It's more about realizing that keeping a older, modified car running right is often a losing battle. When the time/effort/money required to maintain/fix the vehicle runs out, and it gets in the way of more important things in life, happiness can suffer. There are lots of "younger" car "enthusiasts" (consult with Spongerider to determine if you're considered a true "enthusiast") out there that think once you make XXX horsepower, the sky opens up and champagne falls from the heavens. Not that I have a whole lot of experience to speak from, but I just believe that you have to walk in the shoes of someone who has dealt with the ups/downs of owning a high HP car to really understand the reasoning behind knowing when to just throw in the towel, sell the car and move on.
